Bargin Bin Turkeys

These turkeys, friends…

I have tried a few times since moving to the farm to raise a pair of turkeys. As much as I enjoy our chickens and the farm fresh eggs, there’s just something special about turkeys. The ones we’ve raised have always been the sweetest, friendliest birds. But, something terrible and tragic has happened to every single pair I’ve raised. One summer, a fox ran up into the yard in the middle of the afternoon just to kill my turkeys and a few hens then wander off straight back to the woods.

I had given up – no new turkeys babies for us this year. Then, in late October, Steve was at the local feed store and saw a clearance bin of turkey poults. $1 each, so he bought them all. Ten baby turkeys. And wouldn’t you know it, every single one of them has survived and is thriving! These little bargain bin babies are so sweet and I just love their chatter in the barn each morning. ♥️
