Grit & Grace’s Christmas Tree, 2022

Our 2022 Christmas tree might not be the most perfectly-shaped one we’ve ever chosen, but he’s pretty darn special. ❤️

We almost always get our tree the day after Thanksgiving. I can hardly wait until then every year. I usually, in September, start counting down the number of Fridays left until “Christmas Tree Day” when we can visit the local Christmas tree farm or garden center and choose the perfect tree.

This year, we were out of town for the weekend and I told myself it would be okay – we’d just wait until next weekend to get a tree. But . . . about two hours after getting home on Monday afternoon, I just couldn’t wait any longer. None of the local tree lots were open then, so we ventured out to the pasture and woods of our farm to choose a tree. We found one that was just about the perfect size! He’s a little spindly, but that’s okay. ❤️

The boys helped us find it, and Chase cut it down using an old handsaw of my dads. Chase even chose a small tree to take down to his room in the basement. 🎄

We’ve never named our Christmas tree before, but I just felt like this one needed a name. I told the boys that as they were dragging him out of the woods and Chase said “Bert. This is Bert and my basement tree is Ernie.”

How absolutely perfect – I used to tease my dad and Steve by calling them Bert & Ernie when they were working on a project together. ❤️

Welcome home for the holidays, Bert! 🎄❤️🎄
