Mo

We really adore each puppy born on the farm. They have the best personalities and are so sweet and smart.

But there is one that is extra special … a little guy we call “Moe” because of the mohawk that he had when he was a few weeks old.

 

At about a week old, I noticed that Moe wasn’t growing as quickly as his litter mates. He didn’t start out as a runt, but by a week old he was really falling behind. So I started supplementing him with puppy formula, drop by drop. We also made sure he had one-on-one time with his Mama to get extra special care.

 

At about two weeks old, he developed a respiratory infection and I really thought we would loose him. Even the vet was not optimistic, reminding me that sometimes they just don’t make it. We got antibiotics, continued feeding him with the dropper, and he started to improve after a few days.

 

Once he got over the respiratory crud, he quickly learned to drink his puppy milk from a bowl. When we introduced mush (dry puppy kibble soaked in formula), the other puppies weren’t sure about it. Moe saw the bowl and immediately knew what to do. He taught everyone else how to eat from the bowl. 

 

We are so proud of him and so thankful that he survived. He is an absolute love bug, wanting nothing more than to cuddle up in our bed and get his belly rubbed.
